From Pluto to the Sun: A Metaphoric Journey of the Soul (Pt. 1)

The following sketch was presented to me in a dream, therefore I cannot argue for or against its factuality. However, as few axioms in astrology are “factual”, I can certainly appreciate this metaphoric explanation of a soul’s journey, from Pluto to the Sun:

Let’s imagine a soul lingering at the edge of our solar system, waiting to incarnate into earthly experience. The furthest planet from the Sun, relevant to our current astrological understanding, is Pluto. Let’s take Pluto as this “edge”, or the first station where the soul starts entering our Solar System. We can thus metaphorically call Pluto “the embryo of the soul”.

As the 8th planet from the Sun, and through its correspondence with number 8 (as the ruler of the 8th zodiac sign, Scorpio), Pluto has always been associated with “death and rebirth.” Even the physical shape of number “8” implies an infinite loop (the infinity symbol in mathematics is ∞), which perfectly relates to the constant cycle of “death and rebirth”. Therefore, it would make sense if Pluto is taken as the very starting point (“the embryo of the soul”), as well as the very ending point (i.e. death).

The soul further develops into a “fetus” stage by entering the second station, the planet closer to the Sun right after Pluto: Neptune. This imagery also corresponds with Neptunian symbolization of the divine “womb”… the fluid nature (element of Water) of soul’s experience at this stage coincides with the development of “emotional realm” and a sense of cosmic “belonging.”

We find Uranus in the third station, corresponding with “sudden change” and “shock” (element of Air, as a thunderbolt cutting through air). Now the metaphoric “fetus” is to be born into the earthly experience, and thus the umbilical cord has to be “cut” (a traumatizing experience, albeit necessary). Having exited the Neptunian dreamy “womb” through the cutting energy of Uranus, the “infant” soul now lands in the earthly lap of Saturn.

So far, the soul has travelled through three various stages, and this journey can provide a new lens through which each birth chart can be seen:

Pluto by Sign, House, Aspects and Dispositorship indicates the quality of the “conception” of the soul into the cycle of incarnation, i. e. the evolutionary impetus that has pushed the soul to “rise” above the perpetual inertia and [re]incarnate into the earthly experience.

Neptune by Sign, House, Aspects and Dispositorship indicates the quality of the “relationship” between the soul and the “womb” of the “Universal Mother”, i. e. how the soul sees itself as “inseparable” from the source, and the degree of desire to return to the “womb” or source of creation.

Uranus by Sign, House, Aspects and Dispositorship indicates the quality of the “separating” desire the soul carries, to cut itself away from the Neptunian “All is One” and therefore to individuate… to “differentiate” itself from the source in order to be able to interact with it as an independent “being”.

In the next post, I will continue with the soul’s journey as it enters the realm of Saturn and gets closer to the Sun.
